Militants Strike in Lal Chowk, 8 Injured in Grenade Attack

Area Cordoned Off, Hunt on to Nab the Attackers

Suspected Militants lobbed a grenade in city center of Summer Capital in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday afternoon in which seven pedestrian and one CRPF sub inspector got hurt. Militants hurdled a grenade towards Palladium Cinema Lal Chowk where CRPF bunker is located. Soon after the attack panic gripped all around and sources said that militants targeted the CRPF bunker but grenade missed the target and exploded on road. All the injured were shifted to SMHS Hospital where they are said to be stable. Senior Superintendent of Police SSP Srinagar Shri Amit Kumar said that efforts on to nab the attackers and all the injured persons are stable.A heavy contingent of Paramilitary forces launched a joint operation with Special Operation Group of J&K Police to hunt the attackers. However no militant outfit has yet claimed the responsibility of the attack.
