The controversial demand by various Sikh Organizations to summon the Amritsar former Member of Parliament Navjot Singh Sidhu on Sri Akal Takht Sahib for apologizing  has gained momentum  on regular statements by the leaders of  Akali Dal and its sponsored so called Sikh Organisations like Sikh Student Federations , but if Sri Akal Takht summons Mr.Sidhu it will directly recognize the Sehajdharis as Sikhs said Dr.Paramjeet Singh Ranu National President of Sehajdhari Sikh Party (SSP). He stated that Sidhu is a born Sikh and belongs to a Jatt Sikh family and has full faith in Sri Guru Granth Sahib and has no other religion and he being non-baptized  (Non-Amritdhari) is a Sehajdhari Sikh and not a patit. Only an Amritdhari Sikh becomes patit when he violates the Amrit by committing any of the four transgression as prescribed by the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh  claimed Dr.Ranu.

The controversy arouse against the vetran MP Sidhu when he unknowingly and innocently orated few lines of Gurbani in a poetic style during his speech by distorting it and connecting them with personalities of other religion in a function at Ludhiana. The video of his speech has become viral on social media where it has been stated that the MP has committed a heinous crime by distorting the Gurbani and the fanatic organizations had gone a step ahead stating that it’s the hidden agenda of the RSS. Dr.Ranu said that 85% of Sikh population of the World are of the non-baptized Sikhs who are born in Sikh families and have no other religion except Sikhism and belive in Guru Granth Sahib only but stating such non baptized Sikhs as Patit or non-Sikhs shall create a wedge between the community which is the main agenda of some fascist force like SGPC. The SGPC has become defunct by the orders of the Supreme Court in the case of voting rights of Sehajdhari Sikhs as the SGPC denies to recognize them as Sikhs.

The Sehajdhari Sikhs in Haryana voted against the Congress and Akalis as they felt betrayed during the formation of Separate Haryana Gurdwara panel HSGMC in Haryana. The Hooda Govt. had changed the definition of ‘Sikh’ in the HSGM Act 2014 by considering only keshdharis as Sikhs which has pided the Sikh Minority into a further sub-minority thereby removing a vast majority of Sikhs from their religion said Dr.Ranu. The Congress and the Akali Dal Badal both have been opposing the voting rights of the Sehajdhari Sikhs in Gurdwara Elections in Haryana and Punjab.
