Violation Of Labour Laws Won’t Be Tolrated: Jyani

Constitues Committee To Streamline The Functioning Of The Deptt.

Surjit Singh Jyani, Labour Minister, Punjab held first meeting of the department here today. Addressing the official and employees of the department, Jyani said that labour acts are mainly associated with backward classes and economically backward people, therefore the officials and employees should protact their rights on priority basis and any kind of laxity would not be tolerated at any level. He also urged the officials and employees to bring transparency and fairness in their working so that laboures don’t face any hazards. He said that official should make sincere efforts to protect the rights of employee working in factories. Jyani further said that Punjab Buildings and Other Constructions Workers’ Welfare Board should register more and more employees, so that these employees are able to facilitate from various government schemes. He also instructed the officials to make labourers aware about the ongoing and new govt. schemes, besides this official also instructed to prepare blue print of new beneficiary schemes for the labourers. Jyani called upon to speed up the process of pending judicial cases of labourers regarding compensation and salary etc. He said that the contractors should be issued licenses according to labour act, so that no contractor is able to exploit the labourer. He said that the Inter-State Migrant Labour Act should also be implemented properly. To smoothen the daily functioning of the department, Jyani constituted a fiver member committee, which includes Principal Secretary, Secretary, Labour Commissioner, Additional Labour Commissioner, Additional Labour Commissioner (Factories) of the department. This committee would solve all the departmental problem at their level and reported to the minister. Chief Parliamentary Secretary Chaudhary Nand Lal also spoke on the occasion. Prabhjot Singh Mand, Labour Commissioner welcomed the guests. Prominent amongst others, present on the occasion were R.C. Nayar, Principal Secretary of Department, M.K. Vadhawan, Secretary, Harish Nayar, Additional Labour Commissioner and Sodhi Ram, Additional Commissioner (Factories) and other official of the deptt.
