The Education Department has chalked out a strategy to strengthen sports infrastructure in the schools of the state. Education Department would incur Rs. 9 crore to provide better guide and modern sports kits to the sports persons.it was disclosed by education Minister Punjab  Sikandar Singh Maluka while presiding over a meeting of Punjab School Physical Education Development Fund Committees meeting. He said that education department would make every effort to provide the modern sports kits and healthy diet to the sports persons so that they could prepare for competition at every level with full concentration. The Minister further said that the education department has also decided to give 25-25 extra marks on the pattern of Maharashtra and Goa governments, to all those students, who would get medal at state level, National level and international level.He further said that the coaching centers in the schools would continue in the evening shift also so as the students could excel at the national and international level sports competition. He said that in every district 30 to 40 sports coaching center would establish. He said that Physical Education teachers would get 2 hours rest from daily school hours so that they could provide coaching to the students in the evening shift after the school timings. He said that the education department has also decided to invite online entries for all National and international levels competitions on the pattern of Indian sports school federation and Kerla Government. Prominent among other who present in the meeting included Chief Parliamentary Secretary  Inderbir Singh Bularia, Secretary Education  Husan Lal and other senior officers  of the department.
