All Is Well, Says Bikram Singh Majithia

So-Called Rift Between SAD-BJP Merely Media Hype

Punjab Revenue, Information & Public Relations minister Bikram Singh Majithia has said that all is well between both Shiromani Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janta Party and no one should worry about it. "We are like a democratic family. The difference of opinion, if any, between the members of the family is unnecessarily blown up by media."There is no differences between SAD and BJP as this coalition had come up on a solid foundation laid down by the then Prime Minister Mr Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Punjab CM Mr Parkash Singh Badal. We are duty bound to carry forward those ties and our social cohesion is rock solid," he said while speaking to mediapersons here today.He said that the so-called strained ties between SAD and BJP is all media creation and both the parties would be contesting the upcoming civic body polls in Punjab together. "We would not only contest these elections together but would win them as well. I feel more than anyone else, its the media as well as the Congress party which is worried about our ties the most," quipped Mr Majithia who was in Khanna to attend 4th Annual Sports Meet of Delhi Public School, today.

He said that it was strange that Congress party that could not keep its five top leaders together is commenting on the so-called rift between SAD and BJP. Mr Majithia said that Mr Partap Singh Bajwa should concentrate in resolving feuds in his own party rather than commenting on others.Commenting on the newly constituted Youth Akali Dal, Mr Majithia said that it has been done to strengthen the party at grass root level. "Three zonal presidents have been appointed for Malwa, while one each for Doaba and Majha regions. Each zonal president would head a zone comprising of 21-25 Vidhan Sabha constituencies and all these president's would report to former YAD president and Irrigation Minister Mr Sharanjit Singh Dhillon," he stated.While addressing the students and parents, Mr Bikram Singh Majithia urged them to keep social evils such as drugs, dowry, female foeticide and other such at bay. "All of us will have to join hands if we want our state and country to prosper."

Majithia went down the memory lane while addressing the students and said, "It is after a gap of 15-18 years that I am attending a sports meet. Last sports meet I attended was my own in school."He even gave examples of Sachin Tendulkar, Michael Jordan, Martin Luther King Jr, Shaheed Bhagat Singh and Baba Bulle Shah to motivate the students about leading a life where they can contribute a lot for the society. He even urged them to participate in sports events along with excelling in studies.He said that children are the future of the nation. "They are, in fact, the foundation on which a strong, vibrant and dynamic Nation shall be built. Children are exposed in their formative years most to their parents and teachers, who have a tremendous responsibility towards inculcating in their young minds a sense of values, discipline, dedication and commitment to the nation," he said.Majithia also gave away prizes to winners of different sports events. Prominent among those present during the function included ex-MLA Mr Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Subordinate Selection Services Board Punjab chairman Mr Santa Singh Umedpuri, Deputy Commissioner Mr Rajat Agarwal, DIG Ludhiana Range Mr G S Dhillon, Mr D S Bains (IAS Retd) besides several others.
