Punjab to set up 2600 rural citizen services centres by May 2015-Sukhbir Badal

Chairmen of market committees would be announced soon

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Punjab Government would set up 2600 unified civil services centers in all villages and 137 towns in the state by May 2015 to provide more than 225 citizen centric services in hassle free manner related to various departments.Addressing a gathering at Jalalabad after inaugurating the first of its kind modern girls school costing Rs. 14.69 crore, Mr. Badal said that to provide services like BPL cards, driving licenses, birth and death certificates, police verifications, attestation of documents etc, Punjab cabinet has recently approved the 1750 rural and 424 urban cyber service centers under "minimum government maximum governance" plan. He asserted "if we have to wipe out corruption, contact between common man and public dealing government offices have to be eliminated and such service centers are a big step to achieve this target" adding he informed chief secretary has been asked to personally supervise setting up of these centres in time bound manner.

He also said that Sad-BJP is fully geared up for upcoming local bodies elections and the coalition would register massive victory on the basis of its performance. Replying on the proposed agitation by left parties against the Punjab Government, Mr. Badal said that after losing ground at national and state level they have even eliminated from political scene of West Bengal and other states as well. Adding he said that Congress and leftists are spent forces which have lost the faith of masses due to their directionless policies.Replying to a question about the nominations of market committees chairmen in the state, Mr. Badal said that all pending committees would be announced within a month. Regarding the question of development works alloted to PWD and Mandi Board instead of elected Panchayats in villages, Mr. Badal assured that he would personally examine the matter.

While reviewing the construction works of hospital and nursing school worth Rs. 26 crore in Jalalabad, Deputy Chief Minister has took a serious note of the shortage of doctors in government hospitals in Ferozpur and Fazilka districts. He assured that in next 15 days doctors and para-medical would be deputed in all civil hospitals and dispensaries in both the districts. He also directed the officials to complete the construction of hospital till 30 July 2015. Deputy Chief Minister has also announced Rs. 20 lakh to provide furniture to newly inaugurated girls school. It is mentioned here that during his two days tour to Fazilka district, Mr. Badal has laid down foundations stones of development projects worth Rs. 90 crore.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion Member Parliament Sher Singh Ghubaya, MLA Gurtej Singh Ghuryana, Commissioner Ferozpur pision V.K. Sharma, Manjeet Singh Brar Deputy Commissioner, Chairman District Planning Board Prem Kumar Valecha, OSD to Deputy CM Charanjit Singh Brar, Satinderjeet Singh Manta Halqa incharge and Ashok Aneja SAD District president.
