Awami Mutahida Mahaz candidate for Kulgam, and CPI (M) state secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami Sunday urged the people to participate in the elections in a big way and vote for those parties and candidates who can help people to come out of the present difficult situation and help ensure better future for themAddressing a public rally at Pariwan village of Kulgam constituency, he said, “The need of the hour is to put an end to the miseries faced by the masses.” He exhorted the people to defeat the evil designs of various pisive forces that are active in different garbs and are hell bent to pide people of the state. These forces should be routed by maintaining complete unity and mutual brotherhood, Tarigami asserted.

Expressing serious concern over the problems related to basic amenities of the people, he said that despite Election Commission’s several clarifications and clear cut directions that the routine works should go on and people should not suffer for the basic amenities during elections, the administration which was already suffering from inefficiency has taken refuge in the Model Code of Conduct and has become totally motionless. This has resulted in great inconvenience to the people in general and the flood victims in particular.Tarigami appealed the Election Commission to issue fresh guidelines to the administration so that it does not sleep and carries on with the routine job of providing basic amenities to the people and the necessary relief to the flood affected.

The height of official apathy is that at various places the families whose houses got destroyed or severely damaged by the foods are yet to receive even the initial relief, he maintained.Earlier Tarigami was given a rousing reception by the people of the area and great festivity marked the public rally attended by the people belonging to all walks of life. Among others, the rally was addressed by senior leaders Mohammad Yousuf Lone, Mohammd Amin Dar and Mohammad Afzal Parry. They appealed people to vote for Tarigami in the interest of post flood reconstruction, development and prosperity in Kulgam.
