Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani Wednesday called an urgent meeting of Central Relief Committee at Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Headquarters Hyderpora to take stock of the relief activities. While deliberating with the functionaries of the committee he said instead of helping and rehabilitating the flood victims ‘power hungry politicians are striving hard to get to the chair.’“Their callous and inhuman attitude has multi folded our responsibilities towards these suffering masses. Hard winter has already set in and people are facing the shortage of shelter and warm beddings and cloths. Death, destruction and devastation on such a large scale has not been able to melt the stone-hard hearts of these power mongers from Srinagar to Delhi,” Geelani said in a statement to KNS.

“How could they face these grief-stricken masses and dare to campaign for their votes,” he asked “We are trying hard to reach out to the victims within our limited resources from day one and all our units have already been converted into relief units. But Delhi people and their paws here Jammu and Kashmir are hell bend upon to stop us from doing so. Our people from a common worker to the office bearers have been arrested and the residences of most of them are continuously raided,” he said. The Hurriyat (G) chairman once again appealed to the international human rights organizations, Red Cross and Muslim countries to come forward and render a helping hand to rebuild Kashmir, “because Delhi Government and their proxies here are only interested in occupying power even if it is on the graveyards of the Kashmiris.”Geelani appealed to the flood victims not to send their women folk to Hyderpora office “as our survey teams are going to every nook and corner of the flood hit areas to document and asses the damages.”

While thanking people for observing complete shutdown in protest against the killing of two innocent youth in Chattergam, Geelani appealed to the people to know and recognize the ‘real face of India.’“They should not fall prey to their nefarious designs again and again. They should not support them to sharpen their weapons against Kashmiris and if we continue to be befool by the crocodile tears we as a nation have pay the price,” Geelani added.
