Toilets inaugurated in Delhi slum

Urban Development Minister M. Venkaiah Naidu Tuesday inaugurated public toilets for Delhi slum dwellers as a part of the Clean Indian Campaign.A total of 17 toilets have been built in Kali Bari Marg area by the New Delhi Municipal Council at a cost of Rs.12.50 lakh.The campaign was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi Oct 2.The toilets are for the benefit of the slum that has about 160 hutments accommodating around 3,000 people.Of these toilets, eight are for women and two for the differently-abled people.Speaking after the inauguration, Naidu said these slums have existed for over 30 years, yet only eight toilets, besides one mobile toilet unit, were built for them so far.
