Rocket attack in Afghanistan capital, no casualties

At least two rockets were fired in green zone area of Afghanistan capital of Kabul Sunday night, no casualties reported, police said."Two rockets landed in Kabul city at around 09.15 p.m. Sunday but did not leave any casualties," police spokesman Hashmat Stanikzai told Xinhua.He said the rockets were fired from unknown location. Unofficial sources said the rockets hit areas around the Presidential Palace and the NATO-led forces' headquarters in central Kabul.

No group has claimed responsibility yet for the attack, but the Taliban routinely claim responsibility for such attacks.Afghan security forces took the full operational lead from foreign troops in mid-last year.The war-torn country is due to take over the responsibility for its own security from NATO-led troops by the end of year.

More than 41,000 NATO-led coalition troops, down from the peak of 130,000 in 2010, are stationed in Afghanistan. Some 30,000 of them are Americans and the US plans to trim its forces to less than 10,000 next year.
