Dubbing NC-Congress coalition government as a ‘misfortune’ for Jammu and Kashmir, senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and Member Parliament, Tariq Hameed Karra Saturday said the people of the State yearn for change as they have become victims of ‘ungoverned rage let loose on them by the Omar Abdullah-led cavalier regime.’In a statement he claimed due to the ‘scandalous mismanagement’ of relief and rehabilitation work in the aftermath of devastating floods the State Government’s credibility is today at its lowest ebb.Addressing a series of public meetings in Chrar-e-Sharief, Kangan and Hazratbal Assembly segments of Srinagar-Budgam Parliamentary constituency, Karra said people in every nook and corner of the State are eagerly looking forward for change so that a new Government is in place, sooner the better, to accomplish the massive task of rehabilitation and reconstruction in the aftermath of the devastating floods that hit Kashmir last month.

He said the hapless people and especially the flood-victims have been subjected to all kinds of miseries due to the inefficiency and sloppiness of the NC-Congress coalition government. “Fed up with the delinquent approach of the present Government, the flood-hit people everywhere now want the relief and rehabilitation work to be undertaken through some alternate administrative mechanism,” Karra claimed.

“Though, with an eye on assembly elections, the government may be trying to undo, in a hush-hush manner, the wrongs it has committed during the past almost six years, there is a strong missing link still prevailing between its working and the people,” he said and added that this Government will be known more for its anti-people policies and the war it has unleashed on every section of the society than anything good. “Everyone in Jammu and Kashmir understands that most of the measures taken by the present government during the past six years were either for minting money or aimed its own survival without caring for people’s issues,” the PDP MP said.

Karra claimed PDP has, under the leadership of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti, emerged as a strong, credible and trustworthy voice of the people of J&K. “People across the board have realized that PDP is the only party that can deliver on its commitments and want it to be in the driving seat to mitigate their sufferings,” he said and added that people acknowledge that what PDP did in three years of its rule between 2002 and 2005, NC has not done that in almost 50 years of its rule in J&K.PDP leaders Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjoora, Bashir Ahmad Mir, Aasiya Naqash and others also addressed these meetings.
