Just as the fourth ODI was about to commence, a bouncer from the West Indies team shook the BCCI and the Indian team. The West Indies team decided to pull out of the match due to some disputes with the West Indies Cricket Board. The entire HPCA team and the people of Himachal were anxious post hearing the speculation. Meanwhile, Mr. Anurag Thakur, President, HPCA stepped in and had the issue resolved. Mr. Thakur met the West Indies team to request them to play the match. And, with a lot of convincing, the West Indies team decided to go ahead with the match.

Mr. Mohit Sood, Press Secretary, HPCA, “Our worthy president has time and again proved that we couldn’t have got any better leader than him. His last minutes intervention saved all of us from great displeasure. It is very unfortunate that the West Indies Cricket Board has decided to turn down rest of the tour.”The BCCI team’s appeals and requests to the West Indies Cricket Board went unanswered as the team and the board mutually decided to call off the series. BCCI will now be looking at other options available and will be approaching ICC to ensure that the game at large, doesn’t suffer.
