Rather, Vikar inaugurate Polytechnic College at Nagam

The Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather and the Minister of State for Technical Education, Vikar Rasool today inaugurated Rs 18. 58 cr State of Art Government Polytechnic College at Nagam in Budgam district.The College is first of its kind, out of 18 colleges, sanctioned by the union Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD) for Jammu and Kashmir under Coordinated Skill Development Initiative and has been completed in a shortest span of 2 years. The splendid and spacious College building is spread over plinth area of 32,000 The Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah had laid foundation stone of this mega project in May, 2012. The construction work on other 17 sanctioned Polytechnic Colleges in the state is also going on in full swing.

Addressing a gathering at Nagam, after inaugurating the college complex, the Finance Minister reiterated Government’s resolve to provide all the modern educational facilities to the youth of the state to enable them excel in the open job market both at National and International levels. He thanked Chief Minister for ‘gifting’ this institute to the people of Budgam district adding that it would go a long way in shaping destiny of the youth. He said in the present day fast developing economy and technology, the technical education has assumed tremendous importance and he was eager to provide this modern educational facility to the students at their doorsteps.

Reiterating governments resolve to serve the people as per their aspirations, Rather said new administrative units were opened in nook and corner of the state for this purpose. He said the state Cabinet in it’s yesterday’s meeting has approved opening of more administrative units in various parts of the state including Budgam district. These include Tehsil status to Nagam and Waterhail, Niabats at Panzan, Kaneera and Dadoompora and blocks headquarters at Surisyar, Pakharpora, Hafoor Batapora and Ranger. “These new administrative units will go a long way in redressing grievances of people in their respective areas at their door steps”, Mr Rather added.

He cautioned the people against the false propaganda of opportunistic politicians and asked them to exercise their franchise with wisdom and caution.Vikar Rasool, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted some achievements of the coalition government and reiterated the resolve to make Jammu and Kashmir one of the socially and educationally model states of the country. He said the government has re-orientated its planning and development strategy to ensure equitable and all round development of the three regions of the state with main focus on backward and under developed areas.
