Central team headed by Joint Secretary Home affairs Gopal Anand along with Revenue Secretary Vinod Koul today visited Anantnag and Pulwama Districts of South Kashmir to take stock of the damages to infrastructure due to floods.At Pulwama, DDC, Sajad Ahmad Khan gave detailed presentation about the damages and relief and rehabilitation process in the district. The district officers also provided the details of damage that their concerned departments have incurred during the floods.

DDC informed Joint secretary that R&B department has made 41 bridges functional that were severely damaged in the floods. He also informed him that 161 PHE schemes were damaged in the floods out of which 159 were restored.In education sector 157 school buildings have got damaged including 12 fully damaged buildings. In agriculture sector crops on 321000 hectares have been damaged while 81 hectares were washed away by the floods.  84 schemes of irrigation department were damaged of which 22 have been restored till date.

At Anantnag, the District administration led by ADDC, Hashmatullah informed the visiting team that 174 villages out of the 394 villages in the district were inundated, while as 220 were partially affected. The ADDC said 40,000 families were affected in the floods, 1902 Pucca houses damaged fully while as 18614 Pucca houses suffered partial damages. Also 312 Kuchha houses were fully damaged and 1118 Kuchha houses were partially damaged. The team was told that 10 people lost their lives in the district and Rs 15.47 Lakh was released as exgratia in favour of the NOK.The team also visited Shool and Shamshipora villages to access the losses suffered there due to the spate in Brangi Nallah.
