Army’s Jammer vehicle damaged in IED blast, 2 injured

Two army soldiers were injured when an Improvised Explosive Device planted by suspected militants went off in Nadihal area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.Official sources told GNS that a jammer vehicle, part of the army convoy, was hit by the IED after it went off near the Chakloo area in the district on Thursday afternoon.“In the incident, the jammer vehicle belonged to 7 Gadhwal unit got completely damaged and two soldiers also sustained splinter injuries”, they said.

The two injured soldiers were immediately rushed to MI Room Baramulla for treatment where their condition is said to be stable, they said.Soon after the incident, army, SOG and police cordoned off the whole area and launched searches to nab the attackers behind the attack.Meanwhile, army’s Srinagar based defence spokesman in a statement issued to GNS said that a major tragedy was averted when an IED blast took place near Nadihal area of Baramulla on the Army Convoy moving from Chowkibal to Srinagar today.“The Army convoy was passing the village on the state highway from Chowkibal to Srinagar when an IED blast damaged one vehicle of the convoy”, he said, adding that two soldiers in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
