Chairman Hurriyat Syed Ali Geelani today took appraisal of the relief work and chairman Central Relief Committee Peer Saifullah presented detailed report about the relief work before him.According to a statement issued to KNS, on departing the today’s relief teams, Geelani in his address to the activists and officials of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat said that helping people is our religious duty and it is our duty to reach to every affected person of the state. He further said that the entire population of the state particularly the people of the Valley are facing huge difficulties and we should not forget the social service part of our Islamic teachings. The recent floods have snatched everything of the people and government have completely failed in providing relief and help to the affected people and they are trying to pert the attention of the people by offering them lollypops in place of relief and compensation.  He said that the entire world knows that the destructive floods have destroyed everything in Jammu & Kashmir and in this situation, announcement of a few thousand rupees as compensation is a cruel joke with these people.

Geelani said that the puppet state government is bound to provide adequate relief and compensation to the people in a very short time so that they could rebuild their houses before the winter. Hurriyat chairman however said that instead of addressing the difficulties of the people, government is more concerned with the election drama and they have buried the human rights into the recent flood that is why the affected people are still waiting for the relief and compensation from the government.Geelani said that the indifference and unconsciousness of the government towards the Kashmiri people is very sorrowful. Geelani sahib advised the pro-Indian politicians to stay away from playing politics over the disaster of the Kashmiri people and address their problems immediately. Meanwhile a team lead by deputy-chairman Central Relief Committee Altaf Ahmad Shah which also comprises of Syed Imtiyaz Hyder, Abdul Majeed Rather and Zahoor Ahmad Baigh today visited Soibugh, Dangerpora, Kawoosa, Chack, Yarigund areas of Budgam district and distributed ration and blankets amoung the 170 families while as another team comprised of Bashir Ahmad Qurashi, Shakeel Ahmad Bhat and Rameez Raja went to Bandina Kulpora, Khalen, Nayana and Batapora areas and distributed ration kits and blankets amoung the 250 families.
