Science And Technology Needs To Be Develope For All Round Socio- Economic Development --Shivraj V. Patil

Lauding the initiative of Strawberry Fields World School for hosting Model United Nation’s Conference 2014, yesterday late night at Hotel Taj Chandigarh, the Punjab Governor and Administrator, Union Territory, Chandigarh, Shivraj V. Patil, said that we have to be aware of what is happening in the world, be abreast with the latest information.  He said collecting information was one thing and forming your opinion was different and suggesting correct conclusion was very difficult. He said geographically and physically this world of us was one and was part of the universe.Patil said that the United Nations has Socio Economic Council and International Court of Justice. It aims to help the countries to bring about all round socio economic development, and to do justice. He said the United Nations has been able to avoid and prevent big wars. It is hoped that it may succeed in preventing big wars, or Third World War. 

The Governor said that in the present day world, Science & Technology, new knowledge, transport and communication facilities are bound to play very important role and they should be developed in a cooperative and with joint efforts. He said more technology and new scientific knowledge should be generated and needed to be flow freely. He said scientists should also be allowed to move freely in countries to exchange and acquire knowledge and for this United Nations can play positive role. He said Oceans are equal to two third of the globe and they need to be explored. He said the resources and wealth they have under the sea beds, in the columns of water of them were very rich and should be used.

Patil further said that the space was bigger than the oceans.  It has many sources of wealth and energy and they should also be explored and used.  He said Space, oceans, lands, has enough to meet our needs, and demands.  Our needs and demands can be met by paying more attention to Science & Technology, natural and non-conventional sources of energy, developing wider, perspective and long term vision, and plans, which also can be done in a better manner by bringing about cooperation between the countries. He said if world has to unite then we have to extend cooperation and our vision has to be widened. He said to enlighten people more information has to be exchanged and spread. He said in order to understand our state, our country we have to understand the world.Patil further said that United Nation’s was a forum where these issues can be discussed and solved.Former Chief of Army Staff, Gen. (Retd.) Mr. V.P. Malik also spoke on the occasion and appreciated India’s role in the UN Peacekeeping Mission.Prominent amongst others who were present on the occasion included Mr. Atul Khanna, Director Strawberry Fields World School and Mr. Raj Bachan Singh Sadhu, ADC.
