Flood fury:Agriculture Sector suffers Rs 37 Billion loss

State Agriculture Minister Ghulam Hasan Mir Tuesday said that Agriculture Sector suffered heavy losses due to devastating floods in Kashmir Valley. He said that the sector incurred a loss of Rs 37 Billion while the paddy crops spread on 3 lakh hectors were damaged due to flood fury across the State. Mir told CNS that the Ministry for Agriculture have prepared a detailed report about the losses and damages caused by floods. “The report is lying with the Director Agriculture but one thing is clear that Agriculture Sector suffered unbearable loss in the State,” he said adding that arable land comprising of thousands of kanals were washed away in different districts of Valley in Anantang, Pulwama, Kulgam and Shopian.
