Shiromani Akali Dal president and Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today deeply mourned the demise of Veteran Akali stalwart Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi at village Talwandi Rai of the district today. Mr Badal today called on the bereaved family here at their residence and shared his heartfelt sympathies with them.Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi had passed away following brief illness at Hero DMC Heart Institute, here on September 19.Mr Sukhbir Singh Badal said that it was a huge loss for the entire family especially the Shiromani Akali Dal and entire Sikh Panth. "It is because of him (Talwandi) that I became Shiromani Akali Dal president. I recall how Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi braved the bullets during the black days of terrorism in state and always worked for the betterment of Shiromani Akali Dal and the entire Sikh Panth," he said.

Mr Badal shared his life experiences with Jathedar Jagdev Singh Talwandi’s sons Mr Ranjit Singh Talwandi (ex MLA) and Mr Jagjit Singh Talwandi (SGPC member) and other family members. He prayed to the almighty to grant eternal peace to the departed soul and give strength to them to bear this huge loss in this hour of crisis.Prominent among those present on the occasion included Advisor to CM, Mr Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, former minister Mr Bikramjit Singh Khalsa, former president Nagar Council Raikot Mr Amandeep Singh Gill, besides several others.
