Emphasising the pivotal role of young people in shaping the future of the nation, the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue (VBYLD) 2026 – Young Professionals Roundtable was successfully organised by MY Bharat Srinagar under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, in collaboration with the Nations Development Association (NDA) at the SCERT Auditorium Bemani, Srinagar.

Held on the theme "Youth in Democracy and Government for Viksit Bharat," the programme brought together nearly 300 Youth, young professionals, MY Bharat and NSS volunteers, educators and youth leaders from across Jammu & Kashmir to deliberate on democratic values, leadership, governance and the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

The programme commenced with registration, networking, Vande Mataram, the VBYLD Theme Song, and the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Welcoming the dignitaries and participants, Mr. Sushil Singh Charak, Chief Functionary, Nations Development Association (NDA), said that India's demographic strength is its greatest asset and called upon the youth to actively participate in democratic institutions, public leadership and community development.

He said that initiatives like VBYLD provide an important platform for young minds to engage with policymakers, academicians and public representatives while preparing themselves to become responsible nation-builders.A presentation on the vision, objectives and roadmap of Viksit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue 2026 was delivered by Rawhaan Buhroo Rafiq, highlighting the role of youth-led participation in achieving the national vision of a developed India by 2047. The presentation was followed by cultural performances showcasing the talent and diversity of young participants.

Delivering the keynote address, Prof. (Dr.) Mohammad Mobin, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Srinagar, said universities must become centres of leadership, innovation and character-building. He urged students to uphold constitutional values, strengthen democratic institutions and contribute through research, innovation and social responsibility.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. (Dr.) K. S. Chandrasekar, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu, observed that the aspirations and ideas of young people are central to India's development journey. He encouraged students to actively participate in governance, policymaking and public life with integrity, professionalism and a spirit of service.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Shagun Parihar, Hon'ble MLA, said that youth participation is essential for a vibrant democracy and urged young citizens to become responsible leaders capable of bringing positive change in society. Ms. Devyani Singh Rana, Hon'ble MLA, encouraged participants to embrace ethical leadership, compassion and dedication, stating that empowered youth would play the defining role in achieving the dream of Viksit Bharat 2047.

Sharing his inspiring life journey, Padma Shri Javed Ahmad Tak, Chairman, Humanity Welfare Organisation Helpline, motivated the participants to transform challenges into opportunities through perseverance, determination and self-confidence. He urged the youth to dedicate themselves to the service of humanity and work towards creating an inclusive and compassionate society.

Ms. Anissa Nabi, JKAS, Deputy Director, Urban Local Bodies, HUDD, and Fit India Ambassador, highlighted the importance of civic responsibility, good governance and healthy living. She encouraged young people to actively contribute towards cleaner, healthier and more responsible communities.

Dr. Sandeep Singh, President, Desh Bhagat University and DBU America (USA), stressed that quality education, innovation, entrepreneurship and skill development are fundamental to preparing globally competitive youth capable of leading India's growth story.

Prof. (Dr.) Faisal Mushtaq Kichloo, NSS Coordinator, Cluster University Srinagar, emphasised the significance of volunteerism, community engagement and social responsibility. He encouraged students to participate in nation-building initiatives through NSS and other youth-led platforms.

The event also featured an interactive Question & Answer Session, during which participants engaged directly with the distinguished speakers on issues relating to democracy, governance, youth empowerment, innovation and public policy. Participation certificates were presented to all delegates, while the dignitaries were felicitated in recognition of their outstanding contributions to education, public service, youth empowerment and social development.

The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Mr. Gopal Namdeo, District Youth Officer, MY Bharat Srinagar, who thanked the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, all distinguished guests, partner organisations, volunteers and participants for their support in making the programme a grand success.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem, followed by a group photograph, reaffirming the collective commitment of institutions, public representatives, academicians and young leaders towards strengthening democracy and realising the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.
