Ravinder Singh Khera Alleges Large-Scale Corruption in Kharar-Landran Road Repair Works

The "Bolega Kharar, Badlega Kharar" foot march, led by Shiromani Akali Dal Kharar Constituency In-charge Ravinder Singh Khera, entered its 13th day on Saturday, covering Ward No. 18 and continuing its door-to-door outreach across the constituency.

The day's march began from Labbu Sweets on Badala Road and passed through Adarsh Nagar and Anand Nagar before concluding at Khuni Majra village. A large number of residents interacted with Kheda during the march.Addressing the gathering, Khera raised serious concerns over the ongoing repair work on the Kharar-Landran Road, alleging that the project is marred by large-scale corruption.

He said that after remaining unrepaired for over four-and-a-half years, the road is now being patched using interlocking tiles. He alleged that the contractor, in collusion with the local administration, is attempting to siphon off crores of rupees sanctioned for development works.

Kheda pointed out that thousands of heavy trucks use the road every day and questioned how interlocking tiles, which are not designed to withstand such heavy traffic, could serve as a durable solution. He termed the project a clear example of the misuse of public funds.

He further alleged that before undertaking road construction, the administration should have first ensured proper cleaning of the underground sewerage system, completed the stormwater drain in concrete, laid a permanent sewerage line, and only then constructed a concrete road. Instead, he claimed, the administration, in collusion with the contractor, has executed the work in a manner that benefits private interests at the expense of the public exchequer.

Khera demanded a high-level inquiry by the competent authorities, stating that the entire episode points towards a well-planned corruption scam rather than genuine development.He said that had the work been carried out honestly and in accordance with technical standards, taxpayers' money would have been used effectively instead of allegedly being misappropriated through the nexus between the contractor and the local administration. He vowed to continue raising the issue until an impartial investigation is ordered.

Former MC Rajpal Singh Raju, Tarlochan Singh, Gurmukh Singh Khuni Majra, Akash Mittal, Nattha Singh, Binny Kharar, Ravinder Singh Ravi Madanheri, Surinder Singh Khuni Majra, Jaspal Singh Nyamia, Rana Sandeep Jhanjheri, Gurmeet Singh Khuni Majra, Arvinder Singh, Patwari Balwinder Singh, Amarjit Singh Minta, and Balkar Singh Babbu were also present on the occasion.
