Rayat Bahra University School of Journalism and Mass Communication has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Tribune Trust to strengthen academia-industry collaboration and provide students with practical exposure to journalism, digital media, and related communication fields. Describing the partnership as a significant step towards bridging the gap between classroom learning and industry expectations, Chancellor Gurvinder Singh Bahra said the collaboration would provide students with invaluable opportunities to gain real-world experience while enhancing their professional competencies.
"The partnership reflects the University's commitment to delivering industry-oriented education and preparing future media professionals with the skills, ethics and technological expertise required in today's dynamic communication environment," he said. Under the MoU, the two institutions will work together to promote collaboration in Journalism, Mass Communication, Digital Media, Public Relations and allied disciplines.
Students will benefit from newsroom exposure, experiential learning, internships, industrial training and interactions with leading media professionals. The agreement also provides for the organisation of guest lectures, workshops, seminars, media conclaves, conferences and faculty development programmes.
Special emphasis will be placed on emerging areas such as digital journalism, multimedia storytelling, artificial intelligence-enabled journalism, media ethics, investigative reporting and fact-checking, enabling students to stay abreast of the latest developments in the media industry. As part of the collaboration Trust will facilitate editorial and newsroom visits, jointly organise academic and professional events, enrich the curriculum through industry inputs and undertake collaborative publications and research initiatives wherever mutually agreed.
