The newly elected office-bearers of the Municipal Council, Sunam President Mr. Manpreet Bansal, Senior Vice President Yadvinder Singh Nirman, and Vice President Meena Rani formally assumed charge of their respective offices today at the Municipal Council Office, Sunam, in the presence of Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora. Addressing media persons and residents on the occasion, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that the people of the martyr's town of Sunam have entrusted the new team with a great responsibility.

He stated that the Municipal Council's foremost responsibility is to ensure the efficient provision of essential civic amenities such as roads, sewerage, drinking water supply, street lighting, sanitation, garbage collection, and planned urban development. Reiterating his vision, Arora said, "My dream is to make Sunam the most beautiful, best-managed and well-developed city in Punjab.

The city's administration will function with complete transparency, integrity and accountability." He further informed that several ongoing development projects, including the new Bus Stand and other major infrastructure works, would be completed within the next two to three months and dedicated to the people of Sunam.

Speaking about delays in development works and negligence by contractors, the Cabinet Minister clarified that since the tendering process is conducted online, it does not matter whether a contractor is local or from outside. However, every project must be executed strictly in accordance with prescribed standards and quality norms.

He said the newly elected Municipal Council team had been directed to personally inspect all ongoing development works. Strict action, including the imposition of penalties, will be taken against contractors found guilty of negligence or using substandard materials.

Arora also appealed to the media to play the role of responsible stakeholders in the city's development. He said that if any shortcomings are noticed, they should first be brought to the attention of the administration and elected representatives.  If corrective action is still not taken, the media has every right to engage in constructive criticism.

Media Advisor Yashpal Mangla was also present on the occasion. Expressing gratitude to Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and the people of Sunam, the newly elected President Manpreet Bansal and the other office-bearers assured that, instead of remaining confined to their offices, they would remain accessible to the public and personally visit different areas of the city.
