Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij, on behalf of the people of Haryana, welcomed Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on his visit to the State in a distinctive and poetic manner. Expressing his gratitude, he remarked that ‘‘इस बरस सावन में अजब बात हुई, पहले गिरती थी बूंदें, इस बरस नोटों की बरसात हुई, क्योंकि प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी जी हरियाणा में आए हैं और 14 हजार करोड़ रुपए से ज्यादा की सौगातें लाएं हैं’’. Sh. Vij described the launch of the country's first hydrogen-powered train between Jind and Sonipat as a landmark achievement for India.
Sh. Vij participated virtually from Ambala in the inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony programme by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Jind. Calling the launch of the hydrogen train the most significant achievement of the day, Sh. Vij said Haryana has created history as the nation's first hydrogen-powered train was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Jind.
He added that this milestone assumes even greater significance at a time when conventional energy resources such as coal, oil and natural gas are limited and gradually depleting. Emphasizing the importance of alternative sources of energy, Sh. Vij said the country must increasingly shift towards sustainable energy solutions.
He explained that although hydrogen is abundantly available in nature, it does not exist independently. It is found combined with oxygen in water (H₂O) or with carbon in compounds such as methane. By separating hydrogen from these compounds and using it through the combustion process, clean energy is generated to power hydrogen trains.
He described the commencement of hydrogen train services as a major technological achievement for the country. The Energy Minister further said that just as India is steadily moving towards solar energy, Haryana is also preparing to introduce several new initiatives to promote renewable energy.
He informed that the State Government is working on a scheme to facilitate the installation of rooftop solar systems for Haryana Government employees. Under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, rooftop solar systems will be installed at households with substantial financial support, while any remaining amount will be recovered through electricity bills in easy instalments.
Similar benefits will also be extended to Government employees, enabling them to install solar systems without the need for bank loans, thereby making clean energy more accessible and affordable. Sh. Vij expressed heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on behalf of the people of Haryana for the unprecedented development initiatives announced during the visit.
He highlighted that one of the most significant projects inaugurated was the Ambala–Kala Amb National Highway, which will greatly benefit Ambala and adjoining regions. Constructed at a cost of approximately ₹1,184 crore, the 33.81-kilometre four-lane Ambala–Kala Amb National Highway will significantly strengthen connectivity between Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
The project is expected to reduce travel time, improve road safety, and provide a major boost to trade, industry, tourism and freight transportation. The highway has been developed with modern infrastructure, including 13 entry and exit points, approximately 29 kilometres of service roads, seven vehicular underpasses, modern bridges and advanced drainage systems, ensuring safe, smooth and uninterrupted travel for local residents as well as thousands of commuters.
Sh. Vij remarked that the highway is not merely a road but a powerful corridor of development that will accelerate the economic growth of Ambala, Kala Amb, Himachal Pradesh and the entire northern region of the country. He further noted that several other major infrastructure projects inaugurated or whose foundation stones were laid by the Prime Minister—including the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway, Jind–Gohana National Highway, Kurukshetra Elevated Railway Track, Pandit Nekiram Sharma Government Medical College in Bhiwani, Maharishi Chyawan Medical College and Rao Tularam Hospital at Koriawas (Narnaul)—will open new avenues of development for Haryana.
Likewise, the foundation stones for the Sikh Museum at Kurukshetra and the Hansi–Barwala National Highway symbolize the harmonious development of the State's cultural heritage alongside modern infrastructure. Following the programme, Sh. Anil Vij was felicitated with a memento in recognition of his participation. Demonstrating his commitment to sustainable mobility, the Minister arrived at the venue in an electric vehicle without a security convoy, conveying a strong message in favour of adopting green and clean energy.
Among those present on the occasion were Narayangarh MLA Smt. Shalley Chaudhary, former Minister Sh. Aseem Goel, former MLA Sh. Pawan Saini, former MLA Smt. Santosh Sarwan, Ambala Mayor Ms. Akshita Saini and several other distinguished public representatives.
