Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. Visits Government Schools at Jandiala Guru and Taragarh

Holds meeting with teachers and motivates students to pursue studies with hard work and dedication

Punjab Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. today visited government schools in the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency to review the facilities being provided and the quality of education in these institutions. During the visit, he held meetings with teachers at the Government School of Eminence, Jandiala Guru, and Government Senior Secondary School, Taragarh, and gathered information regarding the schools' requirements and the facilities being provided to students.

On the occasion, the Minister interacted with students and encouraged them to pursue their studies with hard work, dedication and discipline. He also boarded the school bus transporting girl students of the School of Eminence and interacted with them. 

The students informed him that the availability of the bus service had made their daily commute to and from school much easier. Cabinet Minister S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. said that after becoming MLA and Cabinet Minister in 2022, he had initiated special efforts to provide basic facilities in all 163 government schools of the Jandiala Guru constituency.

He expressed satisfaction that today the face of government schools in the constituency has changed significantly and academic results have improved considerably. He further informed that recently 509 students from the Jandiala Guru constituency who secured more than 90 percent marks in the board examinations were honoured, which has further encouraged a spirit of excellence and healthy competition among students.

The Minister informed that the Punjab Government is establishing a Government Polytechnic College at Jandiala Guru, which is expected to become operational next year. He said that the institution would enable local youth to acquire technical education in various trades and become self-reliant.

Highlighting the reforms introduced by the Punjab Government in the education sector, he said that Punjab has overtaken Kerala in school education and has secured the top position in the country's educational performance indicators. He added that according to the NITI Aayog Report 2026 and the Government of India's PGI 2.0 rankings, Punjab's schools have achieved the number one position across the country.

He further stated that the Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, has approved an ordinance to amend the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Unaided Educational Institutions Act, under which the annual increase in fees and funds charged by private schools has been capped at a maximum of five percent.

Addressing the students, the Minister said that hard work, discipline and determination are essential for achieving success in life. He emphasized that there is no substitute for hard work and that students who remain committed to their goals and continue making sincere efforts are the ones who achieve great heights in life.

Motivating the students further, he said that the hard work put in today becomes the strong foundation of tomorrow's success. Therefore, every student should value time and move forward with complete dedication and commitment to fulfil their dreams.
