Harbhajan Singh ETO Reviews Progress of ₹9.31 Crore Side Drain Project at Jandiala Guru
Project to be completed within six months; will provide permanent relief from waterlogging on GT Road

Punjab Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh ETO today inspected the ongoing construction of the side drain being built along the National Highway at Jandiala Guru to ensure proper drainage of rainwater and improve public convenience. During the visit, the Minister reviewed the progress of the work and directed the concerned officials to complete the project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining high quality standards.
The Minister informed that the project, titled "Construction of Side Drain Along Flyover at Jandiala Guru, District Amritsar," received administrative approval from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on March 5, 2026, at an estimated cost of ₹9.31 crore. He said that the side drain is being constructed at a total cost of ₹9.31 crore and has been targeted for completion within six months.
The project is expected to provide a permanent solution to the longstanding problem of waterlogging on the GT Road at Jandiala Guru during the monsoon season. S. Harbhajan Singh ETO stated that once completed, the side drain will ensure smooth drainage of rainwater, bringing significant relief to the residents, commuters, shopkeepers at Adda Saran, and people living in the surrounding areas who have long been affected by water accumulation during heavy rains.
The Cabinet Minister reiterated that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to strengthening public infrastructure and providing better civic amenities across the state. He added that all development projects are being closely monitored to ensure their timely completion for the benefit of the people.
