Vice Chairperson of the Haryana State Council for Child Welfare, Suman Saini, said that Baba Lakhi Shah Banjara’s contribution to Sikh history is immortal. When the revered Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji was beheaded at Chandni Chowk in Delhi on the orders of the tyrannical Mughal ruler Aurangzeb, an atmosphere of fear and terror prevailed. At such a time, Baba Lakhi Shah Banjara displayed extraordinary courage.

Smt. Suman Saini was addressing a programme organized on Sunday at Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Ladwa to commemorate the 448th birth anniversary of Baba Lakhi Shah Banjara. She paid obeisance at the Gurdwara and offered prayers.

Smt. Suman Saini said that Baba Lakhi Shah Banjara was not merely a historical figure but a great symbol of courage, service, protection of faith, sacrifice, and humanity. His life teaches us that when times are difficult, circumstances are adverse, and truth is under threat, those who remain steadfast in support of righteousness, duty, and humanity are the ones who create history.

She said that Baba Lakhi Shah Banjara’s life inspires us to understand that selfless service, courage, dedication, and faith are the qualities that make a person truly great. She said that great personalities do not belong to any one caste, class, or community; they are a shared heritage of the entire society and nation. Their thoughts and ideals serve as a guiding light for future generations.

She said that the Banjara community is one of the most resilient, hardworking, self-respecting, and culturally rich communities of the country. Despite adverse circumstances, the community has preserved its traditions, identity, and spirit of perseverance.

She said that Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini is committed to ensuring that no section of society is left behind in the development process. He has taken several important initiatives to integrate nomadic and denotified communities into the mainstream.

Through the Parivar Pehchan Patra (Family Identity Card), such families have been connected to various government schemes and services, enabling them to access benefits related to education, healthcare, ration, housing, and social security more easily.

She added that efforts have been made in several regions, including Karnal, Palwal, and Rohtak, to rehabilitate nomadic families and provide them with residential plots. In addition, the formation of the Haryana Denotified and Nomadic Tribes Development Board has created an institutional framework to ensure their comprehensive development.
