Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon, while interacting with the media in Jalandhar, launched a sharp attack on the Aam Aadmi Party government and said that despite four and a half years having passed, the promise of eliminating drugs from Punjab has proven completely hollow. Instead, the flow of drugs has increased manifold compared to earlier.
Dhillon said that before the elections, Arvind Kejriwal had promised the people of Punjab that drugs would be eradicated from the state within just three months. He said that even after four and a half years, far from eliminating drugs, a large number of youth are falling prey to drug abuse, and the government’s “War Against Drugs” campaign has completely failed.
Referring to the arrest of the Deputy Superintendent of Hoshiarpur Jail, Dhillon said that the open sale of drugs inside prisons reflects the government’s failure. The viral video from the same jail is also evidence that mobile phones are being used openly inside prisons. Despite being aware of everything, the government remains busy in jokes and theatrics.
He said Punjab is currently battling gangsterism, drug abuse, unemployment, and deteriorating law and order, while the Chief Minister is vacationing in Bengaluru. Taking a dig at the government, Dhillon said Punjab has become leaderless and is being run by tainted leaders rejected by Delhi, whereas states governed by the BJP are witnessing rapid development.
Citing statistics, he said Punjab, which once ranked first in the country in terms of development, has now slipped to 18th position, while Uttar Pradesh, which was once ranked 17th, has now reached second position. He said industries are continuously being established in BJP-ruled states, law and order is better, and only a BJP government can restore prosperity in Punjab.
Referring to the ₹1,000 per month scheme promised to women, he said that instead of paying the full ₹51,000 due for 51 months, the government has released only the amount for three months, which amounts to mere political theatrics and a large-scale betrayal of Punjab’s women.Targeting the Congress party, Dhillon said the party is entangled in internal conflicts and leadership battles and has no real concern for the people of Punjab.
Expressing confidence, the BJP Punjab President said the party would form the government in Punjab in 2027, carrying forward the vision of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s “Sarkar-e-Khalsa.” He said every section of Punjab’s society is distressed today, and the Bharatiya Janata Party remains the only hope for the people.
