Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. Lays Foundation Stone of New 66 KV Substation at Dhardeo Village

Punjab Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. today laid the foundation stone of a new 66 KV power substation at Dhardeo village in the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency, marking another significant step towards strengthening and modernizing the power distribution network in the region. The Punjab Government will spend approximately ₹11 crore on this ambitious project.
Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone, the Cabinet Minister said that the new substation, being established by the Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL), will significantly strengthen the area's electricity distribution system while ensuring uninterrupted and high-quality power supply to consumers.
He said the project has been planned keeping in view both the growing electricity demand and future requirements. He further informed that the substation is expected to be completed by March 31, 2027.Providing details of the project, S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. said that around ₹7.80 crore will be spent on the construction of the substation, while nearly ₹3 crore will be utilized for the construction and strengthening of outgoing 11 KV feeders.
Ten new 11 KV feeders will be developed from the new substation, including New Buttar Khurd, New Dhardeo-1, New Buttar Khurd AP, New Rakhe Shah AP, New Buttar Sivian-1, New Palla, New Gaggar Bhana, Buttar, Dhardeo Urban and Gaggar Bhana.
These feeders will operate through a 20 MVA power transformer, catering to a total connected load of approximately 14,806 KVA.He further informed that a 5.5-kilometre-long 66 KV transmission line will be constructed from the existing 66 KV Sathiala Substation using SC conductors on double-circuit towers to supply power to the new substation.
The Cabinet Minister said that upon completion, the project will reduce the load of approximately 14,806 KVA on the existing 66 KV Mehta and 66 KV Sathiala substations, thereby ensuring more reliable, uninterrupted and quality power supply to several surrounding villages and urban areas.
He said that the villages to benefit directly from the new substation include Gaggar Bhana, Palla, Dhardeo, Dhardeo Sardaran, Dhardeo Shaheed Malkiat Singh Nagar, Buttar Sivian, Buttar Khurd, Dayalgarh and Nangli. In addition, villages such as Rajdhan, Mehta, Rakhe Shah, Singh Bela and Khabbe Rajputan will also receive indirect benefits from the project.
The Minister stated that the project will provide direct benefits to thousands of consumers in Dhardeo and nearby villages by reducing the load on existing substations, improving voltage levels and ensuring more dependable electricity supply.
He further said that around 14,806 consumers will benefit from the new substation, with substantial improvement in the quality of power supply for agricultural, domestic, commercial and industrial consumers.S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. expressed gratitude to the residents and Gram Panchayat of Dhardeo for unanimously donating 11 kanals and 5 marlas of land free of cost to PSPCL for the construction of the substation.
Reiterating the Punjab Government's commitment to strengthening the state's power infrastructure, the Minister said that new substations are being established across Punjab to ensure uninterrupted and quality electricity supply to every section of society. He described the Dhardeo substation as another milestone in this direction.
The residents of Dhardeo and adjoining villages thanked Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann and Public Works Minister S. Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. for sanctioning the project, stating that it would significantly improve the quality and reliability of power supply in the region.On the occasion, the Minister also planted saplings along with PSPCL officials and village residents at the site of the upcoming substation.
Among those present were Chief Engineer Jatinder Kumar Bains, Superintending Engineer Mohatam Singh, Chairman of Market Committee Mehta Dr. Gurjinder Singh, Block President Ajay Gandhi, Sarpanch Kanwaljit Singh Soni (Dhardeo), Sarpanch Nishan Singh (Dhardeo), Pragat Singh Buttar, Gurpreet Singh (Gaggar Bhana), Balwinder Singh (Rajdhan) and several other prominent residents of the area.
