DISHA committee reviews development roadmap of Rajouri

MPs stress speedy execution of welfare schemes

The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) meeting, chaired by Member of Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma (Jammu-Reasi Parliamentary Constituency) and Member of Parliament Mian Altaf Ahmed (Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency) was held today at PWD Dak Bungalow here today.

The meeting reviewed the physical and financial progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) and developmental projects across the district. The committee deliberated measures to ensure timely completion of projects and effective delivery of benefits.

At the outset, the Members of Parliament inaugurated several developmental projects, including community halls, Attendant Sarais, footbridges, B-Paths and playgrounds. They also dedicated six PMGSY roads to the public: Mougla–Sajali Gala via Karlie Road, Treru to Daggal Road, Solki to Braggi via Kikkar Mohalla Steel Bridge Road, Chowki Paddal to Aella Link Road, Shri Baba Nar Singh Devstan to Vaishno Mata Droon Link Road and Dali to Mehrote Road.

Deputy Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma briefed the committee on ongoing and completed developmental works and the physical and financial progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes in the district. The committee discussed maintenance of PMGSY roads in detail and was informed that several completed roads had not been properly maintained.

The Chair directed the authorities concerned to act against defaulting contractors and ensure proper upkeep of road infrastructure. An Action Taken Report on decisions of the previous DISHA meeting was also presented. The committee reviewed issues including enhancement of the PMAY-G quota, maintenance of SBM assets, construction and maintenance of Community Sanitary Complexes along National Highways with proper signage, groundwater recharge, completion of the 180-bedded additional block at GMC & Associated Hospital Rajouri, strengthening of hospital security and checking private practice by doctors during duty hours.

The committee also reviewed delays affecting developmental works, especially forest clearance, and directed the departments concerned to expedite pending cases for early resolution. The committee reviewed major health sector projects, including upgradation of SDH Nowshera to a 100-bedded hospital, construction of an additional block at SDH Sunderbani and establishment of the Mother and Child Care Hospital at Lamberi.

Reviewing the Jal Jeevan Mission, the committee was informed that work on 53 of 298 schemes has been completed. The Chair directed the Jal Shakti Department to accelerate remaining works and ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply through the summer through monitoring and duty rosters.

The committee also reviewed the Rural Development Department's performance under Swachh Bharat Mission, PMAY-G, Panchayat Ghars and the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM). The committee also discussed key BRO road projects, including the Akhnoor–Poonch National Highway (NH-144A). Around 99 percent of work under Package-V is complete.

The Chair directed the executing agencies to complete the remaining components, including bypasses, at the earliest. The committee also reviewed progress under Packages VI and VII and the Rajouri–Thanamandi road project. The committee also reviewed Agriculture Department schemes, including the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP).

Reviewing the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Campaign, SSP Rajouri Gaurav Sikarwar informed the committee that 74 FIRs have been registered and action initiated against drug peddlers, including attachment of properties.

The Chair directed all stakeholders to strengthen enforcement, awareness and rehabilitation to make Rajouri drug-free. The Members of Parliament appreciated the efforts of the District Administration Rajouri, especially Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma.
