SDM Kharar Issues Notice to BJP Leader Babloo Kori

Asked to explain alleged obstruction of Election Commission's SIR drive; reply sought by June 30

The Electoral Registration Officer-cum-Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Kharar, has issued a notice to BJP leader Babloo Kori (Municipal Councillor of Ward no 18 , Naya Gaon) , alleging that he obstructed the Election Commission of India's ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) programme.

According to the notice, the Election Commission is currently conducting the Special Intensive Revision exercise across Punjab. Under the programme, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) deployed in Assembly Constituency 052-Kharar are collecting enumeration forms from every voter in their respective areas.

The notice alleges that Babloo Kori, through social media platforms, made negative remarks regarding the Special Intensive Revision programme, thereby creating hurdles in the implementation of the Election Commission's initiative. The administration has also attached photographs as part of the complaint.

Election authorities stated that such statements are allegedly creating confusion among voters in Assembly Constituency 052-Kharar and causing difficulties for BLOs engaged in the revision exercise.The notice further alleges that the actions amount to obstructing government work, spreading misinformation, misleading the public, and damaging the image of the Election Commission of India.

Babloo Kori has been directed to submit a written explanation before the SDM office by June 30, 2026. The notice warns that failure to respond may result in the matter being referred to the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, for further action.
