Kavinder Gupta presides over closing ceremony of national-level Shoolini Fair at Solan

Governor Kavinder Gupta presided over the closing ceremony of the National-level Shoolini Fair at Solan on Sunday evening. Lady Governor Bindu Gupta also graced the occasion. 

Congratulating the district administration and the Shoolini Mela Committee, the Governor appreciated their dedicated efforts in organizing the historic fair in a well-coordinated, vibrant and traditional manner. He said that Shoolini Mela is not merely a cultural celebration but a reflection of Himachal Pradesh's rich heritage, traditions and deep-rooted faith. 

Such festivals, he said, strengthen social harmony, preserve the State's cultural identity and promote tourism. Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. (Col.) Dhani Ram Shandil honoured the Governor on the occasion.

The Governor pinned badges on the newly inducted lifetime members of the Solan Red Cross Society and lauded their commitment towards humanitarian service and community welfare. He expressed confidence that their association with the Red Cross would further strengthen voluntary service activities in the district.

On the occasion, the Governor also released a commemorative magazine dedicated to the Shoolini Mela, highlighting its historical, cultural and religious significance. Later, the Governor enjoyed the colourful cultural evening presented by artists, showcasing the rich folk traditions and cultural heritage of Himachal Pradesh.

Earlier, the Governor visited the historic Durga Temple at Ganj Bazaar, where he offered prayers and sought the blessings of Goddess Durga for the happiness, prosperity, good health and well-being of the people of Himachal Pradesh. Lady Governor Smt. Bindu Gupta also accompanied him during the visit. MLA Shri Vinod Sultanpuri was present on the occasion.

Deputy Commissioner Solan, Manmohan Sharma, welcomed the Governor and other dignitaries. Senior officers, members of the Shoolini Mela Committee, representatives of the Red Cross Society including huge gathering of people were also present on the occasion.
