SANJY-2026 : DC Rajesh Sharma inspects Kathua and Lakhanpur MC areas

Directs officers to intensify cleanliness drive

Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today toured various areas under Kathua and Lakhanpur Municipalities to review cleanliness and take stock of ongoing sanitation arrangements. The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the cleanliness drives being carried out by the Municipal authorities and directed the officers concerned to further intensify efforts to maintain clean surroundings across the towns.

The DC directed the Municipal officers to ensure regular sanitation, especially after the sweeping staff resumed duties and to maintain cleanliness standards in all areas. He directed the Executive Officers concerned to personally monitor sanitation works and ensure that no area is left unattended.

The Deputy Commissioner also inspected the Lakhanpur Main Bazaar and reviewed cleanliness arrangements at the district entry point. He directed the EO Municipal Council Lakhanpur to ensure regular cleaning, proper waste management and upkeep of public spaces.

While interacting with the officers, the DC said that with Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY) 2026 approaching, the District Administration is preparing comprehensive arrangements for the visiting pilgrims. Cleanliness and sanitation would remain a priority during the Yatra, particularly in view of the upcoming monsoon.

He instructed the departments concerned to ensure proper drainage, prevent waterlogging and maintain cleanliness in all vulnerable areas. Among those present were ADC Mahima Madan, ACR Vishav Partap Singh, former President Lakhanpur MC Ravinder Sharma, CEO Kathua MC Amit Sharma and EO Lakhanpur MC Prithvi Sangra.
