In compliance with the directions of the Election Commission of India, Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Mrs. Komal Mittal, today convened a meeting with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) nominated by various recognized political parties to review preparations and strengthen coordination for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 of electoral rolls.

Chairing the meeting, Mrs. Mittal emphasized the pivotal role of political parties in ensuring the success of the revision exercise and urged BLAs-1 and BLAs-2 to to extend full cooperation to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in their respective polling areas. She stated that close coordination between BLAs and BLOs would facilitate the smooth, accurate and timely completion of the revision process.

The District Election Officer informed that the SIR-2026 exercise will be carried out from June 25 to July 24, 2026. During this period, BLOs will conduct door-to-door visits to collect and verify voter information through Enumeration Forms, thereby ensuring that electoral rolls remain accurate, updated and inclusive.

Mrs. Mittal further informed that nearly 69 per cent of the voter mapping exercise in the district has already been completed. She noted that in areas where progress is comparatively slow, active support from BLAs can significantly accelerate the completion of the task.

Highlighting the voter facilitation measures introduced by the Election Commission, Mrs. Mittal stated that a dedicated “Book a Call” facility has been made available on the ECI Net (ecinet) portal. Under this initiative, voters can register their queries or concerns and receive a response within 24 hours.

She also encouraged citizens to make use of the 1950 Helpline for obtaining information and assistance related to the revision process. The District Election Officer reiterated that BLAs are expected to proactively engage with voters and assist in addressing queries pertaining to SIR-2026.

She further informed that dedicated grievance redressal cells have been established at the district level as well as in all Assembly Constituencies to ensure prompt disposal of complaints and suggestions received from the public. Representatives of various political parties and their nominated BLAs attended the meeting. Among those present were Election Tehsildar Harpreet Kaur, District Nodal Officer (SVEEP) Prof. Gurbakshish Singh Antal and Election Kanungo Surinder Batra.
