Government Hospitals in Haryana being Equipped with State of the art Healthcare Facilities, says CM

Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the present State Government has undertaken extensive steps to modernise healthcare infrastructure, ensuring that government hospitals are equipped with advanced facilities and services on par with private hospitals. He said that significant improvements in medical infrastructure, diagnostic capabilities and patient care services are being made across the state to provide quality healthcare to every citizen.

The Chief Minister said that the government is making dedicated efforts to upgrade civic healthcare infrastructure on a large scale so that quality healthcare services are available to every citizen across government hospitals. He emphasized that making Haryana’s public healthcare system more efficient, accessible, and patient-centric remains the government’s highest priority, with continuous initiatives being undertaken to strengthen healthcare facilities and improve service delivery throughout the state.

The Chief Minister said this while chairing a review meeting on the state's healthcare infrastructure, modernisation of government hospitals and construction of medical colleges at the Haryana Civil Secretariat on Sunday. Health Minister, Ms. Arti Singh Rao, Chief Secretary, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Additional Chief Secretary, Health Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, Additional Chief Secretary, PWD (B&R), Sh. A.K. Singh, Director, National Health Mission, Dr. R.S. Dhillon and other senior officers were also present at the meeting.

Review of Renovation Works in Government Hospitals Across 12 Districts

Reviewing the rejuvenation and renovation works being undertaken in government hospitals across the state, the Chief Minister said that civil hospitals in all districts should be upgraded in such a manner that they become even more convenient and citizen-friendly than private hospitals. 

He  also reviewed the ongoing renovation works in district hospitals of Ambala, Bhiwani, Charkhi Dadri, Faridabad, Hisar, Kaithal, Mahendragarh, Palwal, Panchkula, Rewari, Sonipat and Nuh, and issued necessary directions to officers.

Rise in Ayushman Bharat Beneficiaries Availing Treatment at Government Hospitals

The Chief Minister said that the increasing number of facilities in government hospitals has led to a significant rise in the number of Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries opting for treatment in these institutions. During the financial year 2024-25, the government paid claims amounting to Rs 26 crore for the treatment of 8.83 per cent beneficiaries under the scheme. 

In 2025-26, however, 32 per cent of beneficiaries received treatment in government hospitals, for which the government paid claims worth Rs 126 crore. He said that considerable work still remains to be done in this direction. 

When modern equipment and healthcare facilities are available in government hospitals, a larger number of people should benefit from them. He directed officers to encourage more Ayushman Bharat beneficiaries to avail treatment at government hospitals.

Directions Issued to Enhance Financial Powers of Civil Surgeons

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the committees constituted for improving hospital facilities and carrying out essential works comprising Civil Surgeons, PWD officers, NGOs and citizens should work proactively to address deficiencies in hospitals. He also directed officers to increase the financial powers of Civil Surgeons from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 10 lakh, so that development and maintenance works are not delayed while awaiting approvals.

Modern Facilities for Around 140 Types of Diagnostic Tests Available in Government Hospitals

The Chief Minister said that government hospitals are equipped with modern facilities for conducting nearly 140 types of diagnostic tests, including MRI, CT Scan, Ultrasound and Digital X-Ray. He directed that all laboratories be further upgraded and made high-tech.

He further directed that there should be no laxity in providing basic amenities such as drinking water, toilets, fans, air-conditioning, and cleanliness  to the patients in the hospitals. Repair of hospital rooftops should also be undertaken on a priority basis to prevent water leakage during the monsoon season. 

He directed officials to ensure the cleaning and repair of rooftop water tanks and replacement of damaged lids to maintain water quality and hygiene. The Chief Minister also directed that laundry-related operations in hospitals be mechanised through the use of modern equipment.

Solar Panels to Be Installed on Rooftops of Government Hospitals and Medical Colleges

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini directed that solar panels be installed on the rooftops of all government hospitals and medical colleges so that their electricity requirements can be met through renewable energy. These solar power plants should be connected to the grid through net metering so that surplus electricity can be fed back into the grid.

He also directed officers to undertake attractive wall paintings for the beautification of hospital interiors, particularly in mother-and-child wards. Directions were also issued for pest-control measures in hospitals. The Chief Minister further directed officers to undertake large-scale plantation drives across all government healthcare institutions.

Meanwhile, officers informed that 17,000 saplings would be planted in healthcare institutions during the current monsoon season, of which 3,000 saplings have already been planted.

Mammography Machines Being Installed for Women

Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, informed that mammography machines would be installed at District Civil Hospitals in Panchkula, Rewari, Sonipat, Kurukshetra, Panipat, Karnal and Narnaul, as well as at the Civil Hospital in Sector-10, Gurugram, to facilitate early detection and timely treatment of breast cancer among women.

She said that the installation of these machines would enable women to access advanced breast cancer screening services within their own districts, eliminating the need to travel to distant hospitals for diagnosis and treatment. The Chief Minister also issued necessary directions regarding the installation of mammography machines in other districts and the provision of air-conditioning facilities in mother-and-child wards.

Ensuring Government Healthcare Services Reach Every Citizen is Essential

The Chief Minister also reviewed the status of all operational and under-construction medical colleges in the state. He directed that a concrete action plan be prepared to initiate cancer treatment facilities in Sirsa district.

Similarly, he said that wherever feasible, hospitals may be operated under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model so that citizens can receive healthcare services superior even to those available in private hospitals. Reviewing the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme and the number of beneficiaries receiving treatment under it, the Chief Minister said that the State Government is investing substantial resources in the modernisation of government hospitals, and it is equally important that a large number of citizens benefit from these enhanced healthcare services.
