DC Rajesh Sharma reviews progress under NCORD and NMJKA

Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today chaired a meeting to review the progress of initiatives under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) and Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA) in the district. The meeting discussed increasing awareness among youth, strengthening community participation, functioning of helpline mechanisms and coordinated identification and support of persons affected by drug addiction.

Departments concerned were directed to intensify awareness campaigns and ensure effective outreach at the grassroots level. While reviewing enforcement measures, the DC directed agencies concerned to take strict action against drug peddlers and ensure that persons involved in drug-related activities do not avail benefits under government schemes.

The meeting also discussed cancellation of benefits of such persons as per rules and strengthening inter-departmental coordination for effective implementation of NMJKA initiatives. Among those present were SSP Kathua Mohita Sharma, DC State Taxes Joginder Singh Jasrotia, PO ICDS Mohammed Syed Khan, GM DIC Mushtaq Chaudhary, ADC Kathua Mahima Madan, IAS Probationer Nidhi, Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur and other district officers.
