The Shaheed Udham Singh Kamboj Memorial Committee organized a special felicitation ceremony in Sunam today, during which all the newly elected councillors of the city were honoured. On this occasion, Punjab Cabinet Minister Aman Arora attended as the chief guest. During the event, the committee office-bearers, along with the Cabinet Minister, honoured the newly elected councillors by presenting them with mementos.
Speaking on the occasion, Aman Arora said that it is the responsibility of the representatives elected by the people to live up to public expectations and perform their duties with honesty and dedication. Addressing the newly elected councillors, he urged them to work tirelessly for the development of the city and to prioritize every public welfare initiative.
He assured them that the Punjab Government would extend full support in all matters related to the city’s development and public welfare. He added that the government’s primary objective is the holistic development of every city and village in Punjab so that people can receive all basic amenities in a timely manner.
The Cabinet Minister said that the sacrifices of great martyrs like Udham Singh continue to inspire us, and institutions established in their memory play an important role in strengthening unity, the spirit of service, and patriotism among the youth. On this occasion, Aman Arora also specifically stated that all parties concerned with the issue related to Shri Seetasar Temple should work towards resolving the matter.
He said that as soon as the issue is resolved, development works worth ₹60 crore, which have already been approved for the site, will begin immediately. He further said that the Aam Aadmi Party government remains fully committed to public welfare and development, and no stone will be left unturned for the progress of Sunam.
The committee office-bearers thanked Aman Arora for attending the event and said that such programmes not only strengthen the democratic system but also promote social harmony and brotherhood in society. Committee members, office-bearers, prominent citizens of the city, newly elected councillors, and a large number of local residents were present on the occasion.
