Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister Sh. Anil Vij reviewed the Light & Sound Show that will be showcased at the Open-Air Theatre of the “Azadi ki Pehli Ladai ka Shaheed Smarak”. Renowned writer, director and artist Atul Tiwari, who is leading the Mumbai-based team responsible for conceptualizing and producing the show, was also present on the occasion.

The Light & Sound Show, which will be projected across five different screens, including the Memorial Tower of the Shaheed Smarak, has been designed in a unique and immersive format. During the review held late in the evening, Sh. Anil Vij provided several suggestions and directions to further enhance the presentation. 

He also discussed various aspects of the project with the creative team and offered guidance to ensure a world-class visitor experience.  Speaking on the occasion, Sh. Anil Vij said that the Open-Air Theatre at the Shaheed Smarak would host the Light & Sound Show every day, making it a major attraction for visitors. 

He emphasized that the show has been designed in an exceptionally engaging manner and will present the glorious history of India’s First War of Independence through modern digital technology. He also interacted extensively with the team responsible for developing the production.

Among those present during the review were Dr. Kuldeep Saini, Director of the Smarak; Bhupinder Singh, Superintending Engineer (PWD); Ritesh Agarwal, Executive Engineer; Naveen Rathi, Executive Engineer (Electrical); along with officials of the construction agency, technical staff and other dignitaries.

Visitors to Experience a Captivating Blend of History, Light and Sound 

The Light & Sound Show at the Open-Air Theatre is expected to become one of the key attractions of the memorial. The theatre, which has a seating capacity of approximately 2,500 people, will host daily presentations. Visitors will witness the inspiring saga of India’s freedom struggle through five separate projection screens, creating a rich and immersive viewing experience.

A special highlight of the show will be the projection of historical narratives onto the 205-foot-high lotus-shaped Memorial Tower, offering audiences a visually stunning portrayal of the events and heroes associated with the First War of Independence.

Shaheed Smarak Spread Across 22 Acres with 22 Thematic Galleries 

The Martyrs’ Memorial dedicated to the First War of Independence of 1857, developed through the dedicated efforts of Sh. Anil Vij, has been completed and is expected to be inaugurated soon. Constructed at an estimated cost of around ₹700 crore and spread over 22 acres, the memorial features 22 thematic galleries. 

These galleries will present the history, events and heroes of the 1857 uprising through a variety of modern and interactive display techniques, offering visitors an informative and inspiring journey through one of the most significant chapters of India’s freedom movement.
