Punjab Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Monday laid the foundation stone of a new community hall in the Model House area, reaffirming the Punjab Government’s commitment to strengthening civic infrastructure and improving public amenities across the state.
Accompained by Mayor Vineet Dhir, Chairman District Planning Committee Amritpal Singh, and Councillor Raj Kumar Raju, the Minister said that the community hall would be constructed in Ward No. 45 at a cost of Rs. 49.46 lakh, fulfilling a long-pending demand of the local people.
He stated that the project would provide a modern and accessible space for various social, cultural and community-related activities. Mr. Bhagat said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government has been implementing development-oriented and welfare-focused policies that are transforming the state’s growth trajectory.
He added that there is no shortage of funds for public welfare projects and that several more development initiatives would be launched in the coming months to further improve the quality of life of citizens. Highlighting the significance of the project, the Minister, the Mayor and the Chairman said the community hall would serve as a common platform for organising social gatherings, educational programmes, cultural functions, awareness campaigns and other community events.
Such facilities, they said, play a crucial role in promoting social harmony, community participation and collective progress. They further noted that the government is committed to ensuring major development in both urban and rural areas. They reiterated that infrastructure projects aimed at public welfare remain a top priority of the state government.
Residents of the area welcomed the initiative and expressed confidence that the facility would greatly benefit local communities by providing a dedicated space for a wide range of public and social activities. Cabinet Minister Mohinder Bhagat also paid obeisance on the birth anniversary of Sadhguru Swami Gyan Giri Maharaj and urged people to follow his teachings to build a harmonious and compassionate society.
He said the upcoming community hall would facilitate the celebration of the saint’s birth anniversary on a larger scale and extended heartfelt greetings to all devotees on the auspicious occasion.
