Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu urges PR representatives to contribute Chitta-Free Panchayats

Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu attended the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Panchayat Pradhans and Up-Pradhans held here today at Peterhoff hotel. The Chief Minister administered the Anti-Chitta pledge to the elected representatives and called upon them to play an active role in the campaign against drug abuse by working towards the creation of Chitta-free Panchayats and a drug-free society.

He congratulated the newly elected representatives and said that Panchayats serve as a vital link between the government and the people. He  expressed hope that they would work with dedication to promote development, public welfare and ensure the effective delivery of government schemes and services at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister urged the Panchayat representatives to encourage sports, education, cultural activities and other constructive initiatives within their communities so as to steer the youth away from the menace of drugs and channelize their energy towards positive pursuits. Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said that the state government has launched several ambitious initiatives and welfare programmes aimed at the holistic development and well-being of every section of society, which are already yielding encouraging results. 

The state government has adopted a visionary approach in strengthening the rural economy and advancing key sectors such as green Himachal, quality education, healthcare, employment generation, financial management, drug de-addiction and employee welfare, among others. Education Minister Rohit Thakur administered the oath of office and secrecy to the newly elected Panchayat Pradhans and Up-Pradhans of the district.

Chairman of the 7th State Finance Commission Nand Lal, MLAs Kuldeep Singh Rathore, Mohan Lal Brakta and Harish Janartha, Chairperson, State Women Commission Vidya Negi, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister (Information Technology and Innovation) Gokul Butail, Chairman Himfed Maheshwar Singh Chauhan, Chairman APMC Devanand Verma, Chairman Himcon Vikesh Chauhan, Chairperson State Commission for Protection of Child Rights Anita Thakur, Vice-Chairman State Drug Abuse Prevention Board Sanjay Bhardwaj, DC Anupam Kashyap, SP Gaurav Singh and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
