The Punjab Government is continuously undertaking development works to strengthen infrastructure in villages and cities across the state and to provide better transportation facilities to the public. In this regard, another major development initiative has been announced for the residents of the Jandiala Guru Assembly constituency. A side drain will be constructed to resolve the long-pending problem of water drainage in Jandiala Guru town.

These views were expressed by Public Works Minister Sardar Harbhajan Singh E.T.O. while laying the foundation stone of the side drain at Jandiala Guru today. He said that the project will be completed at an estimated cost of ₹9.31 crore and has been targeted for completion within six months.

He informed that the tendering process has already been completed and work on the project will commence shortly. He added that rainwater often accumulated on the Jandiala Guru GT Road during the monsoon season, causing inconvenience to commuters and shopkeepers.

The new drain will provide a permanent solution to this problem. Subsequently, the Public Works Minister also laid the foundation stone of a bridge to be constructed on the Jandiala–Vairowal Road connecting to the Amritsar–Delhi National Highway.

He informed that the bridge will be built in village Gunowal at a cost of ₹81.67 lakh. The project has also been assigned a six-month completion timeline, and the work has already been allotted to the concerned contractor.

Mr. E.T.O. stated that the bridge would provide significant relief and improved connectivity to the local residents. While laying the foundation stones, Mr. E.T.O. said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government remains committed to the development of villages and towns across the state.

He said that development projects are being prioritized in every region according to the needs of the people so that modern and convenient infrastructure can be provided to citizens. He directed officials to ensure that no compromise is made on quality standards during the execution of the projects and that the works are completed within the stipulated timeframe and dedicated to the public.

He further stated that the Punjab Government is continuously monitoring development works to ensure the proper utilization of public funds. On this occasion, departmental officials informed that the bridge project, costing ₹81.67 lakh, would fulfill a long-standing transportation requirement of the area.

They added that the construction of the bridge would particularly benefit the residents of Gunowal village and nearby areas.
