Haryana Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij said that the state government is continuously working with commitment to make Haryana self-reliant in the field of solar energy. He said that Haryana is not only moving rapidly towards promoting green energy but is also making a significant contribution to achieving national targets related to clean and renewable energy.

Sh. Vij made these remarks in Chandigarh while reviewing the certificates and mementos awarded to Haryana at the national level for the effective implementation of the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. On the occasion, Energy Department Commissioner and Secretary Smt. Ashima Brar and Managing Director of Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN), Sh. Vikram Singh presented the certificates and mementos to him.

He said that officers and employees of the Energy Department, New and Renewable Energy Department, and power distribution utilities are working with full dedication and commitment to make the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana a success. As a result of these sustained efforts, Haryana has received three prestigious national awards for the effective implementation of the scheme.

It is noteworthy that the Government of India launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana on February 13, 2024, to realize Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi’s vision of clean, green, and self-reliant energy. Through the successful implementation of this ambitious scheme, Haryana has established a distinct identity for itself at the national level.

Sh. Vij informed that the state government has set a target of installing 2.22 lakh rooftop solar systems on households across Haryana by March 31, 2027. Several effective measures are being undertaken to achieve this target within the stipulated timeframe and to expand access to solar energy among the public.

He added that the scheme is being regularly reviewed and necessary directions are being issued to concerned officials to ensure maximum utilization of solar energy as the energy source of the future. Recently, during a national programme held in New Delhi, Haryana was honoured with the PM Surya Ghar Excellence Award based on its outstanding performance in the “Month of Solar” campaign.

The state secured Third Position in the category of Highest Consumer Applications with 17,142 applications, Second Position in the category of Highest Solar Installations with 11,983 installations and Third Position in the category of Highest DISCOM Inspections (UHBVN & DHBVN) with 12,514 inspections.

Sh. Vij said that this achievement is the result of the coordinated and dedicated efforts of the Energy Department, the State Nodal Agency, UHBVN, DHBVN, and officials, employees, and implementation partners working at the field level. He expressed confidence that Haryana will continue to excel in the field of solar energy and play a leading role in achieving the national goals of energy self-reliance and green development.
