S. Savita Advocates Sustainable Mobility and appreciates VIT-AP on Chess Tournament in Amaravati

Hon’ble Minister for BC Welfare, Smt.S. Savita, visited the VIT-AP University Campus today on the 5th day of VIT-AP 1st International FIDE-Rating Chess Tournament. S. Satyanarayana – IAS, Secretary to the Govt, BC Welfare department was also present on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion she emphasized the importance of environmental protection and sustainable transportation on the 5th day of the VIT-AP Chess Tournament in Amaravati.
On the occasion of World Environment Day today, the Minister highlighted the growing need to reduce environmental pollution and conserve natural resources. She noted that the increasing adoption of electric vehicles and bicycles is a positive step toward a cleaner and greener future.
“Under the visionary leadership of our Hon’ble Chief Minister Sri.Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the Government is encouraging measures to save petroleum and promote eco-friendly modes of transport. Every individual can contribute to environmental conservation by choosing electric vehicles and bicycles whenever possible,” she said.
Sharing her personal commitment to the cause, Smt. Savita travelled from the Secretariat to the event venue on an electric bike, demonstrating the importance of embracing sustainable mobility. The Minister lauded VIT-AP University for successfully organizing its first-ever chess tournament in Amaravati, which has attracted nearly 1,000 participants from 26 states across the country.
“It is a matter of great pride that such a prestigious national-level event is being hosted in Amaravati. Bringing together talented players from across India reflects the growing stature of our capital city as a hub for education, sports, and excellence,” she stated. Highlighting the significance of chess, the Minister remarked that the game develops analytical thinking and helps individuals make intelligent and well-informed decisions.
“Chess sharpens the mind, strengthens strategic thinking, and nurtures leadership qualities among young people,” she added. Smt. Savita Garu congratulated the management of VIT-AP University for their efforts in organizing the tournament and providing a platform for young talent from across the nation.

Arulmozhivarman- Vice Chancellor, VIT-AP University said that We are delighted to host the VIT-AP 1st International FIDE-Rating Chess Tournament, bringing together nearly 1,000 talented participants from 26 states across India.
