Important Meeting Held in Amritsar Central to Further Strengthen the Campaign Against Drugs
Punjab Government Has Taken Major Action Against Drug Traffickers Under the “War Against Drugs” Campaign – MLA Dr. Gupta

Under the Punjab Government’s ongoing “War Against Drugs” campaign, an important meeting was organized today at Shakti Nagar by the Nasha Mukti Morcha, Amritsar Urban. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Ajay Kumar Gupta, MLA, Amritsar Central Assembly Constituency.
On the occasion, Mr. Dikshit Dhawan, In-charge of Nasha Mukti Morcha (Urban), Additional Deputy Commissioner (Urban Development) Mr. Rupinder Pal Singh, Councillor Vicky Datta, Councillor Jarnail Singh Dhot, ADC Rupinder Singh, ACP Surinder Singh, Inspector Manjit Kaur, Inspector Harmandeep Singh, Inspector Shaminderjit Singh, Sonu Kumar Dilbar, Chairman Harpreet Singh Ahluwalia, along with other distinguished persons and volunteers of the Nasha Mukti Morcha, were present.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on making the anti-drug campaign more effective and ensuring its implementation at the grassroots level. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Dr. Ajay Kumar Gupta said that under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the State Government is making determined efforts to eradicate drugs from society through the “War Against Drugs” campaign, which has now completed 459 days.
He informed that the total number of drug traffickers arrested during these 459 days has reached 66,473. He stated that the Punjab Government has taken strong action against drug traffickers and that positive results of these efforts are now becoming visible.
Dr. Gupta further said that volunteers of the Nasha Mukti Morcha as well as members of Village and Ward Defence Committees are working actively to help transform Punjab into a vibrant and prosperous state once again. He added that a fresh public outreach campaign would soon be launched by the Nasha Mukti Morcha to achieve even more effective results at the grassroots level.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Dikshit Dhawan, In-charge of Nasha Mukti Morcha (Urban), said that drug addiction is a serious challenge for society and that collective efforts are essential to eliminate this menace. He appealed to all office-bearers to actively engage with people in their respective areas, create awareness about the harmful effects of drugs, and play a proactive role in keeping the younger generation away from substance abuse.
He further stated that the Government has taken several concrete measures to eliminate drugs and that the Nasha Mukti Morcha is playing a vital role in taking these initiatives to the grassroots level. It was also decided during the meeting that large-scale awareness campaigns, seminars and camps would be organized in the coming months.
Office-bearers of the Nasha Mukti Morcha, Amritsar Urban, were also present on the occasion, and all members reaffirmed their commitment to extending full support in strengthening the fight against drugs.
