Haryana Energy Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the safety of employees of the Energy Department is the government’s highest priority and that no compensation can ever be more valuable than a human life. He said that whenever an accident occurs while restoring electricity supply, the pain is felt not only by the employee’s family but also by the entire department and the government.
The Energy Minister on Tuesday chaired a meeting with office bearers of the All-Haryana Power Corporations Workers Union, Hisar, in a cordial atmosphere. During the meeting, he seriously considered various demands raised by the employees and assured them of positive solutions.
Circle-wise training to be provided for the use of safety kits – Anil Vij
During the meeting, Sh. Anil Vij directed all officials to ensure that every employee engaged in hazardous work is mandatorily provided with modern safety equipment (safety kits) and that their proper usage is ensured. Officials informed the meeting that safety kits had already been provided to all such employees.
On this, the Energy Minister directed that special circle-level training sessions be conducted so that employees can use safety equipment correctly and effectively. The Energy Minister said that no compromise would be tolerated regarding the safety of employees.
He said that electricity department employees work day and night under difficult conditions, and the government is fully sensitive towards their safety, welfare, and dignity.
Action to be taken against defaulting consumers drawing electricity from two feeders – Anil Vij
During the meeting, union representatives demanded action against defaulter and domestic consumers taking electricity supply from two feeders. Sh. Anil Vij directed the concerned officials to investigate such cases and ensure appropriate action as per rules. He said that electricity connections and supply systems must function transparently and strictly according to regulations.
Special campaign to curb electricity theft – Anil Vij
The issue of electricity theft in rural areas was also discussed in detail during the meeting. On the demand raised by union representatives, the Energy Minister directed officials to launch special campaigns in the villages and areas identified by the union in order to effectively curb electricity theft.
He stated that electricity theft not only causes revenue loss to the government but also infringes upon the rights of honest consumers.
Union’s transfer-related suggestions to be sent to the committee constituted by the State Government – Anil Vij
Discussions were also held regarding the online transfer policy. The Energy Minister said that the suggestions submitted by the union would be forwarded to the 11-member committee constituted by the State Government so that the practical difficulties and challenges faced by employees could be incorporated into policymaking. In addition, he directed officers to take positive action regarding the demand for temporary transfers against vacant posts.
Will personally monitor transfer/promotion-related cases and keep track of the timeline of every file– Anil Vij
On the issue of promotions, Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij clearly stated that no employee should face stagnation in promotions. He directed officials to ensure that promotions of employees working in Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam are carried out uniformly and under the same rules and procedures.
Directing officials to dispose of pending cases at the earliest, he said, I will personally monitor these matters and keep an eye on the timeline of every file, said the Cabinet Minister.
Study to be conducted on risk allowance being provided in other departments and states – Anil Vij
The demand for risk allowance for employees was also raised during the meeting. On this, the Energy Minister directed the Managing Director of the Energy Department to conduct a study on the risk allowances being provided in other departments and other states and prepare a report so that an appropriate decision can be taken on the matter.
Union should actively contribute towards making Haryana a leading state in the energy sector – Anil Vij
Sh. Anil Vij appealed to the union representatives to actively contribute towards making Haryana a leading state in the energy sector and to help include the remaining villages of the state under the Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon scheme. Apart from this, detailed discussions and deliberations were also held on issues related to employee welfare, including providing uniforms to contractual employees and post-retirement benefits.
Commissioner and Secretary Energy Department, Smt. Ashima Brar, Managing Director, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam Limited, Dr. Aditya Dahiya, Managing Director, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Sh. Vikram Singh, along with Chairman of All Haryana Power Corporations Workers Union, Hisar, Devender Singh Hooda, President Suresh Rathi, Acting General Secretary Rajendra Rana, senior officers of the Energy Department also remained present during the meeting.
