MLA Jammu East Constituency, Yudhvir Sethi on Monday said that unity, education and social awareness are essential for the upliftment and progress of society while addressing a gathering during the 726th birth anniversary celebrations of Baba Sain Bhagat Ji Maharaj at Shree Guru Nabha Das Ji Maharaj Trust Hall, Dogra Hall, Jammu.

The programme was organised by All J&K Sain Samaj with great religious fervour and enthusiasm. Hundreds of devotees and community members from different parts of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the celebrations and paid tribute to the revered saint.

Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Yudhvir Sethi appreciated the role of the Sain community in promoting social harmony, education and welfare activities. He assured the community that their genuine demands would be taken up seriously and every possible support would be extended for their welfare and development.

Rashpal Verma attended the function as Guest of Honour, while special guests included Anil Masoom, Dalip Kumar and Jaswinder Singh Khambra. During the programme, late Mansa Ram was posthumously honoured with the “Sain Ratna Award” for his dedicated contribution towards the unity and welfare of the community.

The award was received by his elder son Anil Kumar Janjua. The Sabha also felicitated youth selected for prestigious institutions including the Indian Army through NDA, medical colleges and engineering institutions during the academic session 2025-26.

Meritorious students were honoured with mementoes for their academic excellence and contribution towards bringing laurels to the community. As part of welfare initiatives, sewing machines, fans and other essential items were distributed among poor families of the community.

A memorandum highlighting various demands of the community was submitted to Yudhvir Sethi by Sabha President Kewal Krishan Fottra for early redressal. Speaking on the occasion, Kewal Krishan Fottra highlighted the achievements of the Sabha during the past year and appealed to the community members to remain united for safeguarding their constitutional and legitimate rights.

Devotees and community members from Jammu, Kathua, Samba, Udhampur, Reasi, Katra, Akhnoor, Bhaderwah, Doda, Bishnah and Punjab participated in the function. Special arrangements for Preeti Bhoj were also made for the participants. Several prominent personalities, office bearers and representatives of various OBC and social organisations also attended the event and encouraged the community towards unity, education and progress.
