Taking a major initiative towards making Haryana a leading state in the field of solar energy, Haryana Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij has directed that a dedicated Solar Energy Desk/Window be established at every Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) office of the power department across the state. This initiative aims to provide citizens with all information and facilities related to installing solar systems at a single, easily accessible location.
In addition, a dedicated missed-call-based information system will also be developed to facilitate consumers. Through this system, interested consumers will receive complete information regarding the installation of solar systems.
Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij issued these directions while chairing a review meeting of the New and Renewable Energy Department here today. Energy Department Commissioner and Secretary Smt. Ashima Brar was also present during the meeting. During the meeting, Sh. Vij instructed officials that the proposed solar windows at SDO offices should prominently display detailed information regarding solar systems, government schemes, subsidies, and benefits through awareness materials and banners.
He said that consumers should not face any confusion or inconvenience while opting for solar energy solutions. He emphasized that his priority is to make Haryana the number one state in the country in the field of solar energy and directed officials to conduct awareness campaigns in every village and city across the state.
The Energy Minister also directed that employees and officers doing outstanding work in promoting solar energy should be honoured, so that more and more people are encouraged to adopt solar systems. During the review meeting, Sh. Vij also examined the functioning of the electricity complaint helpline number 1912 and issued strict directions that every incoming call on the helpline must be attended without fail and complainants should receive immediate and effective responses.
He said the 1912 service should be made more robust and technologically advanced to ensure prompt resolution of electricity-related complaints. He further directed officials to explore additional effective grievance redressal mechanisms to enhance consumer satisfaction.
On this, Energy Department Commissioner and Secretary Smt. Ashima Brar assured the Minister that the 1912 system would be further strengthened. The meeting also reviewed the progress of the PM-KUSUM Scheme. Officials informed the Minister that Haryana has installed 1,92,725 solar pumps so far, placing the state second in the country in this category.
Additionally, a target has been set to install 35,000 new solar pumps during the year 2026–27. Officials also informed the meeting that tenders would soon be invited for installing solar systems on all government buildings in the state.
On this, Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij directed that in the first phase, solar systems should be installed on priority at Deputy Commissioners’ offices, Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) offices, Divisional Commissioner offices, Mini Secretariats, court complexes, government educational institutions, and offices of the Energy Department.
The meeting also witnessed detailed discussions and deliberations on solar street lights, Chief Minister’s announcements related to solar energy, biomass, compressed biomass, and other green energy alternatives.
