Material of Beacon, civil contractors’ lost to floods

The devastating flood has left of trail of destruction in Kashmir Valley and there is hardly any field of life spared by it.In the wreckage, material worth crores of rupees belonging to Beacon authorities and civil contractors associated with various government departments has also been either washed away by the water or used by locals.Official sources said that truck loads of material like sand and bajree which was stacked by constructors along the Srinagar-Baramulla highway for the purpose of carrying various works has been washed away.They said locals of Parimpora, Lawaypora and adjoining areas took away the martial in a bid to protect their areas against the ravaging floods. The locals, they said, filled it in bags to reinforce embankments in order to keep the floodwater from entering the area.Apart from huge quantities of material belonging to Beacon, the flood also caused damage to the material stacked by other civil contractors including electric pision and PWD.
