Haryana Public Works and Public Health Engineering Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa said that road repair work, pothole filling and all pending works must be completed before the coming monsoon season so that people get relief and roads remain safe for travel. Sh. Ranbir Gangwa was chairing a high-level review meeting of the Public Works Department (Buildings and Roads) here today.
During the meeting, a detailed review was conducted regarding the work programme for 2024-25 and 2025-26, road and bridge projects, quality control, the “Mhari Sadak” app and the progress of various development works. The Minister took district-wise reports from all officers.
During the meeting, the Minister directed officers to speed up works that are progressing slowly. He said that the full use of the budget allocated for the current financial year should be ensured, as delays in development works not only affect projects but also increase financial burden on the government.
Public Works Minister, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa said that electricity poles and poles of other departments located in the middle or on the sides of roads at many places are becoming the cause of accidents. He directed officers to coordinate with the concerned departments and get such poles removed or shifted on priority to ensure public safety.
While reviewing complaints received through the “Mhari Sadak” app, he said that public grievances should not remain limited to files only, but results should also be visible on the ground. He directed officers to ensure timely resolution of complaints.
A special review was also conducted of road and bridge projects costing more than Rs. 20 crore. The Minister directed officers and concerned agencies to regularly monitor major projects and complete them within the fixed time limit.
The progress of HARSAC projects was also discussed in detail. Sh. Ranbir Gangwa said that quality should be given top priority and no negligence in construction works will be tolerated.
He directed that construction material should be regularly tested in departmental laboratories and said that materials including bitumen should be used only after quality testing. He warned that strict action would be taken against concerned officers and agencies if any deficiency in quality is found.
He also directed officers to inspect roads and plants every month and send reports to the headquarters. Along with this, action should be taken as per rules against agencies causing delays in works. The Public Works Minister said that officers and employees should work with full responsibility and honesty.
He warned that strict action would be taken against officers and employees found negligent, absent from field duty or careless in their work. He also directed that suggestions and instructions given by public representatives should be taken seriously, as they are directly connected with the public and are well aware of ground-level issues.
Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works Department, Sh. Hitesh Kumar Meena, Engineer-in-Chief, Sh. Yogesh Mehra and other engineers were present during the meeting.Superintending Engineers, SDOs and JEs from all districts also joined virtually.
