Deputy Commissioner Patiala, Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal, today held a meeting to review the progress of the Piped Natural Gas (PNG) network in Patiala district. During the meeting, he directed all concerned departments to act swiftly in resolving issues related to the laying of Torrent Gas pipelines and appealed to residents of Patiala to opt for PNG connections to reduce dependence on LPG cylinders.
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal instructed Torrent Gas Company officials to further accelerate the ongoing work so that the entire city could be declared an LPG-free zone at the earliest. Representatives of the company informed that the PNG network has already been laid for around 30,000 households in Patiala. Out of these, 21,000 households have booked connections, while 15,000 households have already been connected and nearly 12,500 households are currently receiving PNG supply for cooking purposes.
The company also informed that around 400 kilometres of pipeline network has been laid in the city so far and over 100 commercial connections have also been provided. Torrent Gas has additionally started PNG network work in Nabha town.
During the meeting, company representatives highlighted certain issues pertaining to different departments. Taking serious note of the matter, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to coordinate and work collectively to ensure timely resolution of problems.
Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal further directed that departments and agencies including PSPCL, PDA, Municipal Corporation, L&T and the Sewerage Board must not undertake digging work without proper pre-study and coordination at the site to avoid inconvenience to the public. He warned that any negligence causing public harassment would invite accountability of the concerned department or agency and no laxity would be tolerated.
Among those present in the meeting were DFSC Dr. Ravinder Kaur, AFSO Meenu Latawa, Torrent representatives Prashant, Amandeep Rattol and Jagdeep Singh, XEN PWD Peeyush Aggarwal, XEN PSPCL Jatinder Kanda, DFO Satinder Singh, XEN Sewerage Board Vikas Dhawan, along with representatives from NHAI, Drainage Department, Irrigation Department, Municipal Corporation, PDA and other departments.
